Tax bills for the second installment of Real Estate & Personal Property and
Supplemental Motor Vehicle bills are due on
January 1, 2016 with the last day for payment without a
penalty being Monday, February 3, 2016 from 2-4 PM.

*******If you are paying your Motor Vehicle taxes late and you need a release for the Department of Motor Vehicles to register any vehicle in your name, payment must be made in Cash or pay online using the information below. No personal or business checks will be accepted. Per Town Ordinance established 1/15/2004.
Online Tax Payments
Morris taxpayers may pay their Real Estate, Personal Property, Motor Vehicle or Supplemental Motor Vehicle taxes online with a company we have partnered with called Point and Pay. Sewer and/or Deer Island District taxes may NOT be paid or viewed online.
**If taxes are delinquent, please contact the Tax Office during office hours of Wednesdays 9-12 and Thursdays 2-4 at 860.567.7435 for the current amount due prior to making your payment. As an added note, the Tax Office has tried to have all taxes paid and/or due online. Please remember that if your account has been sent for further collections more fees may be added.
Credit and MasterCard Debit Card Payments:
Online payments can be made using your MasterCard debit or credit card. Point and Pay charges a 2.5% convenience fee with a $2.00 minimum charge for payment processing. Please click on the link below to make an online payment.
Visa Debit Card Payments:
Online payments can be made using your debit or credit card. Point and Pay charges a convenience fee of $3.95 for payment processing. Please click on the link below to make an online payment.
ACH Payments:
Online payments can be made using your checking or savings account. You will need your routing and account number to use this service. To avoid delays, please double check the account information as you enter it. There is a convenience fee of $2.00 for each payment that is less than or equal to $10,000.00 and $10.00 for each payment that is greater than $10,000.00. The Tax Collector's Office is responsible for collection of payments for real estate, personal property and motor vehicle taxes and for special town services such as the Morris Sewer Authority and the Deer Island Association District Tax. The Tax Collector’s Office is located in the Morris Town Offices in Community Hall and is open to the public during office hours only. The Tax Office takes great pride in the efficiency with which tax matters are handled. The office is responsible for thorough accounting of all records and funds administered. A courteous attitude is mandatory while upholding high standards of ethical conduct and operating in accordance with all applicable federal and state laws.
The Town of Morris’ October 1, 2013 Grand List mill rate is 22.38 mills. This means that for every $1,000 of assessment you pay $22.38. Example: If your motor vehicle is assessed at $1,500 your taxes would be $33.57.
The Deer Island Association October 1, 2013 Grand List mill rate is 2.77 mills.
The Morris Sewer Authority has set the sewer user fee for the fiscal year 2014-2015 is $300 per user unit.
Tax Reminder
This is a reminder that Town Tax Bills
will be due July 1, 2014 for the first installment of Real Estate and Personal
Property taxes and the entire amount for Motor Vehicle taxes. The second
installment of Real Estate and Personal Property taxes and the entire amount
for Supplemental Motor Vehicle taxes will be due January 1, 2015.
Annual bills are usually mailed the last week of June, for a July 1st due date
and for the Supplemental Motor Vehicle taxes they are mailed in the middle to
the end of December for a January 1st due date. Please note that
there is not a second billing for the second installment due on Real Estate and
Personal Property taxes.
Tax payments for Real Estate, Motor
Vehicles that were registered on or before OCTOBER 1, 2013 and Personal
Property will be due in the July billing. Tax payments for Supplemental Motor
Vehicles that were registered after October 1, 2013 but before August 1, 2014
will be due in the January billing. By state law, failure to receive a
tax bill does not exempt you from paying taxes.
If you do not get a bill, you should contact the Tax Collector’s Office
immediately at 860.567.7435.

Motor Vehicle
Motor Vehicles that were registered on October 1, 2013 will be due
in full in July 2014.
Motor Vehicles registered between October 2, 2013 and July 31, 2014 will be due
and payable January 2015. Those supplemental bills will be mailed out in
December of 2014.
If you need to change your mailing address and/or tax town at the DMV, please go to the following link: DMV Address Change Form. You can then mail the completed form to DMV at 60 State Street, Wethersfield, CT 06161-5070. We cannot change your address here in the tax office. Please remember that if you fail to do this not only will you not receive future tax bills, but your registration renewal will not be forwarded by the Post Office.

Real Estate Sold or Transferred
Real Estate taxes appear in the name of the owner on the October 1, 2013 Grand
List. The new owner’s name(s) will appear on the new grand list’s billing. If
property has been sold or transferred, please forward bill to the new owner or
to the tax collector.
Personal Property
The only bill you will receive for Personal Property taxes is the bill mailed
at the end of June 2014. If the bill is $100.00 or less it is due and payable

Assessments & Exemptions
Questions in reference to Assessments & Exemptions should be directed to
the Assessor's Office. Any questions in regard to Motor Vehicles which have
been sold or registered in another town or state should also be directed to the
Assessor's Office, at 860.567.6096.
Payments by Mail or Payments in Person
If a receipt is desired please send a self-addressed, stamped envelope and the
entire bill to the Tax Collector’s Office. If no receipt is desired just send
the correct part for the installment you are trying to pay. If you are paying
in person, please bring the entire bill.
