Susan Strecker, the award-winning author of NIGHT BLINDNESS and NOWHERE GIRL (Thomas Dunne Books), will host a writing workshop on February 28th from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Morris Public Library in Morris (4 North Street, Morris, CT).
Writing novels, especially an author’s first, can feel overwhelming and difficult to keep on track and finish. Susan will discuss, step-by-step, the eight tips and tricks for writing a novel. Some guidelines include finishing the first draft before polishing and letting the novel rest before beginning the first major rewrite.
She will also discuss with participants the seven essential elements of successful books. These include starting the novel with a powerful kicker and including the protagonist’s flaws and poverties. Lastly, Susan will help the group understand the importance of hooking the reader and will hear from any member who wants to share the beginning of their book to ensure that each contains a fabulous hook.
Writers of all experience and ability levels are welcome.
Snow date March 7th.
Please feel free to bring your laptop or a pad and a pencil to take notes.
