Social Services

The Town of Morris maintains a year-round food bank through the First Selectman's Office

The First Selectman's Office also provides referral services to other area groups. All inquiries or requests for assistance should be made directly to the First Selectman's Office, either to First Selectman or Executive Assistant Laurel Gillotti.

The Morris Food Bank makes every attempt to maintain the complete confidentiality of those who utilize its services. We empathize with the situations faced by many families and do whatever we can to minimize any levels of discomfort that may arise from the use of the Food Bank’s programs. We sincerely ask for any and all suggestions to increase the level of confidentiality we maintain and our ability to deliver services in the most respectful manner possible.

The Food Bank is located at 3 East Street - Town Hall and the hours are Monday - Thursday, 9:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and Friday 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

If you would like to donate to the Food Bank or Holiday Drives, please contact Laurel Gillotti via phone at (860) 567-7430 or e-mail at selectmen@townofmorrisct.com.

ADOPT-A-FAMILY PROGRAM

The Morris Food Bank is happy to announce our Adopt-A-Family Program!

Through the Adopt-A-Family Program, you can become a sponsor on a monthly basis of a family that is experiencing financial hardship, a devastating tragedy or crisis during the year, grandparents who are primary caregivers of their grandchildren, victims of domestic violence, fire victims, or family members who are suffering a serious illness.

We do not have a certain amount but suggest you use your judgment based on the family size. Once you make your decision to adopt a family, you will receive an email with the family information and wish lists. Please remember all information will be confidential. Sponsors will purchase non-perishable food items as well as refrigeration items that can be stored in the refrigerator/freezer at the Town Hall until food can be distributed to families in a timely manner. You may also purchase grocery store gift cards. Please keep in mind that many families have pets and are part of the family. For many families, their pet is their only source of companionship.

A sponsor can be a family, group of people, or individual who adopts a family. Ultimately, both families and sponsors will benefit from this program knowing that the community can come together and help those during difficult times. THIS WONDERFUL PROGRAM WILL BEGIN JANUARY 1, 2018 so please contact me if you need assistance or would like to become a sponsor.

In addition, the Morris Food Bank is also volunteering to deliver food items to residents who don't have transportation. You may contact me with food items you need and I will do the shopping for you. Please contact me for more information.
